The Trouble with Children (According to Dog)
The dog has a pretty good life. Even he admits that. He has a comfy bed and is given nice food, but one thing about living with this particular family really bothers him. It is the children, the crazy children. They are LOUD! They yell, they scream, they make a lot of noise. They hug him so tight his eyes feel like they will pop out. And they try to ride him like he is a pony. They leave their toys in his food bowl and make him wear dresses and pull his hair! But then they turn around and can be so nice, scratching his ears and cuddling him. Maybe the kids aren’t so bad after all.
Author Katie Weaver has written a fun text in perfect meter and rhyme that will have young listeners engaged and giggling through the book. Her wordplay is delightful. The illustrations by Caner Soylu complete the story perfectly with plenty of humor and fun details. A two-page spread in the back has a great list of Do’s and Don’ts for safely and lovingly interacting with your dog. This is a great introduction for young pet owners.
