The Wild Dark
Evie Wilder is currently the leader of the Dark Fable, or La Fable Sombre, a group of thieves possessing supernatural powers. This special group of thieves can become invisible, levitate, mix potions and poisons, and charm anyone or anything. They need to pull off a heist in order to get information on the Night Market, where they will find an artifact they’re seeking, which could take away their powers. But an encounter with an old friend turned enemy, one that somehow escaped The Wild Dark, makes them realize the stakes are even higher than they thought.
Somehow, I managed to come into a series on book two, so the plot was a bit confusing, to say the least. There are a lot of characters to keep track of, as well as Evie’s love/hate relationships with both Ciaran and Jason. The book itself was fine for a young adult fantasy, with the pretty typical storyline of teenagers doing things and responding like adults. They seemed to have pulled off an unreasonable number of heists for their ages. Anyway, if you liked the first book, I’m sure you will love this. Overall, it wasn’t bad, but definitely start with The Dark Fable.
