These Hollow Vows
Absolutely enchanting. These Hallow Vows had me captivated from the very first paragraph and didn’t relent until the final page.
Abandoned by her mother and left to care for her younger sister, Brie is on the cusp of destitution. When a robbery goes wrong, Brie is forced to flee to the one place she swore she would never go: the fae realm. Almost as soon as she passes through the portal, Brie finds herself embroiled in the century-old curse between the Seelie and Unseelie courts. With the curse imposing a code of silence, information is scarce and Brie must navigate treacherous relationships to figure out how to save her sister, save the people, and most importantly, save herself.
Reminiscent of Cinderella, The Selection, and The Cruel Prince, this story included everything I love in this genre: family secrets, unspeakable curses, broody princes, conniving courts, frustrating riddles, fae bargains, forbidden love, rebel groups, and unexplained powers. The writing was suburb and at times held a lyrical quality that enhanced the fantastical world-building. I’m counting down the days until book two is released.
