What the Dead Can Do: A Thriller
On their first vacation as a family since their son was born, Amanda and Tag’s flight crashes and everyone on board dies, except for their two-year-old, Ethan. Ethan is left in the care of his godparents, Matthew and Nicole, despite Nicole being an alcoholic. In death, Amanda and Tag watch as this dysfunctional couple attempts to raise their son. Amanda cannot let go and seeks ways to reunite with Ethan, even going as far as planning on killing him so he can join them. She spends her time trying to discover What the Dead Can Do, while Tag does everything in his power to stop her.
This was an interesting premise, but I think it fell a bit short in the follow-through. There were a lot of sections that didn’t make much sense and were hard to follow. I definitely would not label this a thriller. It’s pretty slow-paced, and while creepy in some sections, not very thrilling. The ending was also not very clear. If you don’t have anything else to read, I guess this would be fine, but I wouldn’t really recommend it.
