You Shouldn’t Be Here: A Novel

Angie Stewart has been hearing a voice in her house. She thinks it’s a ghost but no one else can hear it. Madelyn Zhao just moved to town in the search for her cousin who went missing. Both women are searching for answers, but there is one man in town who will stop at nothing to keep these secrets buried. You Shouldn’t Be Here is what they will both be hearing soon if they don’t stop trying to uncover the truth.

A bit of a slow start and took a while for me to put the pieces together, but overall, an interesting take on a ghost story. Multiple perspectives kept the story moving as well as the little news blurbs, articles or text chains at the beginning of each chapter. I think the villain could have used a bit more depth and more wrap-up, but Angie and Madelyn were fun people to get to know.

If you enjoy mysteries, especially ones involving ghosts, this story is for you. Hopefully, you don’t live in a town like East Henderson, though, or this might hit too close to home.
