A Bed of Stars
Thinking about the vast, vast universe can be very unsettling for a youngster. A young boy has such trouble thinking about the universe that he cannot sleep. His father announces that they are going on a camping trip, out to the desert. They fill their beat-up truck, Old Darlin’, with everything they will need. When they get out to the desert, they play in the sand dunes, then build a fire and sing songs. Finally, they snuggle in the back of the truck and study the sky. Dad explains that all things, even the stars, are made of energy. Stars are our relatives. They name a lot of the stars, and then they fall asleep. A surprise waits at home.
Jessica Love, both author and illustrator of this sweet book, has written a story many readers, old and young, will relate to.
