A Deadly Éclair: A French Bistro Mystery
Mimi Rousseau’s dreams are finally coming true. She’s this close to making the Napa Valley bistro and inn her own, thanks to entrepreneur Bryan Baker. While throwing her first wedding at the inn for Bryan’s niece Angelica, she doesn’t expect to have so much family drama, nor does she expect Bryan to be found dead with an eclair shoved in his mouth. When the sheriff discovers that Bryan’s will forgives Mimi of any debt, she becomes the prime suspect. Determined to find the killer and prove her innocence, Mimi takes up the investigation, which could catch unwanted attention.
The suspects are two exuberant families with intriguing motives, drama, secrets, and almost eccentric personalities. Mimi’s best friend, Jo, has a strong personality that plays well off Mimi’s calmer one, making their scenes together fun. Romance plays around in the background with the wedding, the sheriff’s sweet and not-so-secret infatuation with Jo, and Mimi’s own budding relationship. These relationships add a sweet and playful background, balancing out the family drama and murder mystery. Despite the murder and threats, Mimi’s life never feels truly threatened, and the plot stays emotional and fairly lighthearted. A Deadly Eclair is a riveting mystery you can connect with and has well-rounded characters, strong emotions, and a light touch of romance.
