What is the price of anonymity? Can one ever truly disappear when the burdens of power & fame loom large? Dryden is the youngest of three brothers who is wont to shirk the responsibilities of the royal family. Dryden’s family rules over the kingdom, dominating the lesser classes of elves and orcs. Dryden uses his talents as a pilot to fly anywhere he chooses, and now he wants to lie low. He has been absent from the royal family for over a year and a half. His life takes a noticeable turn when he runs into a captivating Winter Elf named Astanava.

The Winter Elves are beautiful women who are lusted after by libidinous men. They are considered toys to be played with by misogynistic nobles and higher-ups. Dryden comes to the aid of Astranava and her friend when both women are accosted by ill-mannered knights. Dryden’s noble actions lead to the women being arrested; Dryden is beaten and arrested as well. His identity is soon uncovered and he is let go. The women are not so lucky, and the plot thickens.

Astranava is soon imprisoned in a jail run by a sadistic warden. She is targeted for torture and worse. The guards are fellow elves, but they are powerless to stop the wrath of the knights. Astranava will not leave without her friend Saya, as they share an unbreakable bond. As events threaten to spiral out of control in the jail, Astranava unveils her true power with terrifying results.

Dryden soon returns home as the prodigal heir/black sheep. He is greeted with delight by his sister, but his older brother Sawyer views his return with scorn. Dryden’s elder brother Broderick reigns over the kingdom. Trouble is brewing within the kingdom; plans are being made for lethal action against the dwarves and orcs. The plan is titled “Inferno Dawn.” Dryden is vehemently against the genocidal action.

The course is set for a battle with casualties in abundance. Astranava is bent on revenge; the dwarves look to her as a leader. Sheriff Fane is a man seeking redemption for past violent sins. The orcs and dwarves infighting is about to come to a head. Prince Dryden seeks to stop the attack. How will all this end?

Inferno Dawn is a riveting fantasy thriller that stokes the interest of the reader from the first words. The action is fast-paced and enjoyable. The characters are various but fascinate with their stories. The landscapes composed by the author are striking and colorful. The divisions that compose this universe bear striking resemblance to the modern world, which makes the book that much more cogent. An excellent read.
