Seahorses Are Sold Out
Mika desperately wants to go to the lake with her dad, but he is extremely busy with work. Mika mentions that a pet would keep her company and help pass the time that her father is working. He encourages Mika to go to the pet store to pick out a pet; something quiet and well-mannered. She initially chooses a small mouse but loses track of her new friend. When she goes to her dad for help, he is buried in work and encourages her to go back to the pet store to ask for assistance. Mika begins to solve all of her problems by buying a new pet to add to her ever-growing household. Soon, Mika has a dog, seal, penguin, parrot, and elephant added to her chaotic but caring family.
When her father emerges from his office, he exclaims that he is finally ready to go to the lake. All of her new pets come along for the adventure; except for seahorses, as they were sold out at the pet store. This story will delight children ages four to seven, while also entertaining busy parents who struggle with working from home and entertaining their kids.
