Brigit and Ian are not your usual paranormal investigating duo: Ian is the cameraman while Brigit is the one who seems to have some sort of ability that lets her connect with anything supernatural going on… even if there isn’t anything. Except shortly after Brigit gets a strange phone call and they are drawn back to her home town of Ellis Creek, where someone is willing to pay them well to find out what is going on in this town and why teenagers are disappearing. It brings everything back to Brigit, after she lost her sister when was young, and Emma was eventually found dead.

Jaq Evans starts out with an interesting premise, and while it is great to have a leading non-binary character, it feels at times the trauma the character has gone through is so much that the reader is left wondering what’s going on, as so little information is given about the history of the character, and yet events keep happening that relate to the previous ones. Having worked together for years, the two seem to know little about each other (even if Ian has unrequited feelings). It’s a disappointing read that often loses the reader.
