Rose Darling has the rest of her life ahead of her. With the end of her senior year looming, she’s making the most of the time she has left with her friends, family, and Kingdom of the Pine ministry in the little conservative town of Neverton, Montana, which is also home to Camp Damascus, the world’s only gay conversion camp with a 100% success rate.
But her perfect life isn’t what it seems, and something sinister waits in the shadows, watching her every move. As Rose unravels the truth surrounding the demonic force stalking her, she has to question everything she thought she knew about her community and the nauseating lengths righteous men will go to in order to uphold the status quo.
This book was absolutely horrifying in the best way. It’s an amazing satire of Evangelical culture wrapped up in a top-tier horror story revolving around the literal demonic persecution of queer youth. And with a believable female protagonist who is queer and explicitly autistic, Tingle blows this completely out of the park. Trust me, if you enjoyed Boys in the Valley or Hell Followed With Us, you won’t be able to put this one down.
