Closer Than You Think
A fantastic page-turner, Closer Than You Think satisfied my brain in so many ways. This psychological thriller had me thinking about the who, what, why, when, and how all the way through. With its cast of brilliant characters led by Dr. Bryce Davison, it was difficult to determine who the mystery stalker was.
Dr. Davison is a top psychologist who finds himself being watched by a stalker. He is left with items and messages that tell him that someone is watching him and that they are “closer than you think”. If that doesn’t leave chills running up and down your spine, I don’t know what does. Dr. Davison is a good man. Recently separated from the love of his life, Vicki, he struggles to find happiness in his personal life. The shared custody of their beagle, Max, makes him feel as if he and Vicki could possibly work things out. Dr. Davison is well liked by his peers and is well-respected in the psychology department. He works with several juvenile patients and gains their trust.
I really loved the clinical aspect of this book and the specific dialogue the author chose to share when Dr. Davison was treating one of the patients and put her under hypnosis. Closer Than You Think is oh-so-satisfying for readers of the thriller and suspense genre. A book I would gladly pick up and read again.
