Duck and Penguin Are Not Friends
Betty and Maud are best friends. They do almost everything together. Betty’s favorite toy is her duck. Maud’s favorite toy is her penguin. Since Betty and Maud do almost everything together, that means Duck and Penguin do everything together, and Duck and Penguin do not like each other. While the girls play nicely in the sandbox, Duck and Penguin are throwing sand at each other. While the girls push each other nicely on the swings, Duck and Penguin push each other off the swings. But when the girls want to play the one thing neither Duck nor Penguin like, can they finally find common ground?
Author/Illustrator Julia Woolf has written a super story that, as the best picture books do, tells much of the real story with the illustrations. And in this case the illustrations are just as enchanting as the story. Little ones and the adults who read to them will delight in every phrase on every page of this sweet, laugh-out-loud funny story. Youngsters will want this book read over and over to them, and those who are doing all those requested readings won’t mind a bit. This is a real winner.
