Bea, the museum cleaning lady, has noticed that the stuffed animals have been moving in the night. At first, everyone thinks she’s just a little nutty, but when the ringmaster for the Dinosaur Circus stops by to rave about their collection of T-Rex teeth, they begin to think there might be something going on. Thank goodness the museum has its own Museum Mystery Squad comprised of three children–Laurie, Nabster, and Kennedy–to sort things out.

Set in Scotland, this book for young readers has all the elements of a satisfying book. The characters are unique, intelligent, and likable. The museum setting is exciting and fun. The mystery itself is solvable by young readers without being obvious. There is also plenty of humor.

In addition to a fun fictional story, the book includes brain teasers, quizzes, and interesting facts. These things break up the text, which can be helpful for reluctant readers. Another fun way the book keeps moving forward is through short journal entries by Kennedy. Fun formatting also helps children who are transitioning to chapter books and more independent reading, although this book is short and fun enough to read aloud with a child.

This is an excellent and refreshing new mystery series for young readers.
